NSW Maritime has equipped specific incident response vessels with FLIR M300C stabilised, high-definition marine cameras.
These versatile Australian-built boats are designed to support first responders in maritime incidents and emergencies. Each 5.3-meter vessel can accommodate two crew members and six passengers. They are also equipped with a Raymarine Axiom 2 Pro RVM, RVM-100 transom mount transducer and AR200, all expertly fitted by Swift Marine.
The FLIR M300C was chosen as the optimal camera for the job because of its rugged, all-weather design. Advanced gyro-stabilisation provides steady imaging in rough conditions and allows the M300C to continuously monitor targets or hazards over long distances. Mounted on a specially fabricated camera mount, the stabilised camera can be viewed locally or streamed and controlled from the State Marine Incident Coordination Centre in Rozelle, Sydney.
The M300C cameras have also been integrated with the Raymarine Axiom and AR200 module, elevating performance through Raymarine ClearCruise Augmented Reality capabilities. ClearCruise AR enhances navigation safety by overlaying AIS targets, chart objects, and waypoints onto high-definition video.
NSW Maritime State Coordinator Damian Logue commented how extremely durable these vessels are and play a vital role in keeping the waters safe.
“Our incident response vessels are strategically stationed at key maritime bases around the state. The camera attached to the vessel is a crucial piece of equipment which relays real-time information back to specialised staff at our incident coordination centres to help respond to unfolding marine situations”
Compact and slick, these vessels are equipped with the technology and the power needed to operate effectively whether they’re tackling marine pollution, helping at major aquatic events or with emergency operations such as flooding or bushfires in remote communities.
Damien Weber, General Manager at FLIR Maritime Asia, remarked “NSW Maritime's decision to equip their incident response vessels with Raymarine and the FLIR M300C cameras underscores our commitment to providing cutting-edge technology for critical maritime operations. We are proud to support NSW Maritime in their mission to keep the waters safe.”
