A Raymarine UK Headquarters Community Beach Clean

Monday - 28 October 2024

On a grey day in the south of England, employees from Raymarine HQ braved the rain, to conduct a clean-up at a local beach. By collaborating with the Final Straw Foundation who helped identify the location in most need of our efforts, the team successfully collected 11kg of plastic waste. Their effort while small in the scale of the overall challenge UK beaches face, is crucial in helping to prevent harmful substances from entering the marine environment. Beach cleans are invaluable in removing litter, not just plastic, to help protect our harbours, seas and waterways.

One notable item was a Doritos tortilla chips wrapper discovered by Darren Boden, Global Product Manager.

On close inspection it revealed an expiry date of 2013, over 11 years old, highlighting the longevity of plastic waste.

Our beaches are invaluable natural resources, providing habitats for wildlife and recreational spaces for people. However, they face increasing threats from pollution and litter. Raymarine is committed to sustainability and actively contributing to community and environmental protection.
